A relaxing weekend in Palm Springs!
Palm Springs is a perfect weekend spot to get away from chilly fall/winter winds in bay area. The weather is perfect to wear shorts and comfortable linen but not sweaty hot, sounds perfect right :). The average day temperature is 27 degrees and gets around 18 degrees at night.
The town resonates the theme of its name and covered with long beautiful palm trees stretched for miles. The resorts are all themed and amazing spot to relax and a good spa. We stayed in Hilton Palm Springs but I would suggest Saguaro resort as it is very famous with locals and tourist for its colorful theme. Here is the itinerary I would suggest for a perfect day in Palm Springs.
Try to start the day early to enjoy the early sunshine or it gets bright in afternoon and to enjoy breakfast menu. The Palm is a themed café which serves eggs, pastries and variety of other breakfast options, again reserve the table as it gets full quickly. Try the aerial tramway and don’t worry if the online tickets say sold out, there are plenty of tickets to buy at the site. Tip: Be sure to get layers as the temperature drops down to 10 degrees up on the mountains. There are number of hikes and depends on the time availability you can choose the hikes or if you are there just to view like me all the viewing spots are close to the exit of tramway. We spent around 2 hours up on the mountains viewing spots and taking some pictures. If you decide to spend more time do not miss to have lunch in Pines Café with the astonishing view of the valley and do try the Bloody Mary. Spend the rest of the evening walking the downtown and getting the feel of the town.
Check out if there are any concerts or events happening in the area as the city holds free entry concerts for tourists to enjoy. If you would like to try unique cocktails try Tonga hut, a Hawaiian restaurant which serves pineapple and coconut based cocktails.
Places not to miss-:
- Aerial Tramway (Try to get in early in the morning around 9 am)
- That Pink Door
- Palm drive road
- Windmills farm
What to wear-:
I opted for white shorts and a light gray cotton top for the afternoon, wear easy breathable clothes to enjoy the warm weather during afternoon.
For evenings or aerial tramway, I choose light sweater and lightly torned basic jeans and a wind resistant jacket as it can get really cold up on the mountains.
